EXCERPT
He looked like he did the night before. Same shirt. Low-rider jeans with shreds across the left thigh. One hand was behind his back, and he held it out, presenting a bouquet of white and smoky purple lilies.
"These are for you."
Purple and white -- my favorite colors.
"Th...thank you." The lilies were divine. They were fresh stalks, unbound. "These smell...wonderful."
"They're straight from the underworld, by the way. They are everlasting. They won't die."

I have never read a "paranormal romance" but when I found Jess Scott's book featured on the exciting new Indie Books Blog, I figured I'll give it a try. I was very pleasantly surprised. "The Devilin Fey" is a fascinating, intriguing, unusual, and well-written novella. The supernatural elements not only add a sense of mystery to the story but underscore the different levels of meaning: love in its many forms, lust, the danger of obsessive attraction, male versus female points of view, and more. The images are convincing and the love scenes are spicy, juicy and tasteful. Wonderful read, I can only recommend it.Product details

The Devilin Fey eBook Jess C Scott Reviews
The Devilin Fey
Caitlin Fey was a very reserved ,well mannered ,career orientated women. She had a good head on her shoulders . Caitlin was writing an expose for the Collage magazine about a man named Zac Walsh. It would show how derogatory and negative the impact of his publication was to women as a whole.
But once she met him some how she let this conniving manipulating man seduce her. After allowing this man in her bed she felt wrong and dirty , all she could think about was the man who had for the last few nights been visiting her dreams. She some how felt she betrayed him witch was silly since he was not real. After realizing she needed to clear her head some, she went for a walk. And there on the rocks by the shore was the man from her dreams with beautiful wings on his back. once he noticed she was there his wings disappeared and a shirt was there in its place. They talked for a long time he made her feel wanted and safe. Lucius was very taken by her , he felt she was different than other people and he was tired of being by himself.
Once she had really gotten to know him she finds out he is a Succubus and he invades peoples dreams and feeds off their sexual energy. This is all OK for Caitlin at first till she starts feeling a little different and she notices she can smell other peoples sexual history on them. This worries her so she discusses this with Lucius and he explains that she is becoming part Succubus and that she must embrace it. Caitlin is not sure that this is what she wants. Can she do what Lucius dose? would she enjoy this ? Is there a little bit of devil in side her just waiting to be released if she just lets it? Can she be with Lucius forever and live this life ?
This was an interesting story i liked Lucius, it thought he was the best character. I wished he was a little more alpha male but i guess it would not have worked for her to be a succubus and him get all jealous. I think it would have been nice to have their relationship been a little more intense . Otherwise i thought it was an easy light read, something to satisfy your reading cravings in between the big series that you are reading . If want a quick easy read this is a great read for you. I did like the ending though, but of course i cant tell you the ending because what would be the fun in that, you need to read it for your self.
Tongue-Tied
Amanda in her quest to find some one to connect with she was a with a man tonight , but once they were done having sex she did not look satisfied and unknown to her she was being watched by a sneaky little succubus. This succubus was in thralled by her she wanted to figure her out why was she with this man who obviously had no idea how to satisfy her.She felt that if she had a chance she could satisfy Amanda. She follows her into another room and watches wail Amanda satisfy herself since this man obviously could not do it. After she was sated she sat there half asleep half not. The Succubus approaches her and to here surprise Amanda speaks to her as if she sees her and asks her ware her wings are. If this was not a surprise enough Amanda Kisses her. Witch would not be so weird , except for the fact that no one should be able to see or touch her when she is like that.
After following Amanda around some more and fighting her self weather she should continue to keep stalking her or not . She finds she cant stay away. She must know if Amanda likes girls or not , if she would like her or not. She follows Amanda to a Chinese place and sees her meet with a girl and confirms that she is in fact interested in girls, then this makes the succubus a bit jealous . She is determined to make this one hers . Will she? Will Amanda want her in return?
This story was a not my normal read. But it also was a quick and easy read. I was unclear to who the Succubus was if it was intended to be Caitlin? If so ware was Lucius? I remember the mention of a Amanda in the professors dream in The Devilin Fey that is why I thought it may have meant to be Caitlin in this story but it was unclear. Otherwise it was a quick and easy read.

* I received this ARC free from the author in exchange for an honest review*
Story 1, The Devlin Fey centers around a female college student Caitlin who has been having dreams of a strange man coming to her at night. Through her relationship with him, she takes on succubus qualities at night, while remaining human.
The incubus, Lucius is tired of a life of meaningless fornication and is looking for someone to share his world with him. He hand picks Caitlin because he sees her devilish side inside and thinks she will be a good companion. What he didn't expect was for her to object to being forced into his world.
The story is about discovering oneself and finding out what your truest wants and desires are. After a night about town as a succubus, her encounters lead her to believe that she can be both, human during the day and a succubus by night.
At times the story was hard to follow for me but the further I got into the story the better it got. At one point I almost put the book down when it looked like Lucius was going to become violent with her because she was turning him down. I am glad that I kept reading because that was not the case, and she handled the situation well. I like Caitlin's character, she has been this pure soul for so long but the devil has been hiding inside waiting to come out.
The second story, Tongue-Tied is about a succubus that comes across a female that she becomes obsessed with. As she watches Adriana she is drawn to her. They have an encounter at Adriana's apartment that leaves the succubus shaken. She ends up following her around the next day to determine the things that will turn her on. She wants to learn everything about her. Throughout the day Adrianna has meetings with an internet friend, a counselor, and dinner with another friend, asking each one what is love and trying to figure out her own sexuality.
In the end the succubus goes to her and it is sweet and touching. Adrianna shares her notebook of private thoughts with her and both start to wonder if they can find love and companionship with each other.
I liked reading the notes in the journal, they are private thoughts but they speak of the emotional turmoil that Adrianna has been going through all these years. I liked the second story better than the first. To me, it flowed a little better.
Overall they are both good short stories with a different take on paranormal with some erotic elements thrown in. I give The Devlin Fey 3 flaming hearts.
It was only $1.99 and for that I am grateful - that's the best thing about these 2 novellas. The writing was simple and lack luster. The premise was interesting and I was looking for a quick read. Well, at lest it was a quick read - painful at times, but over soon enough.
Don't bother - there are Much better novellas out there - Zoe Winter's Blood Lust series I highly recommend.
